Company History

ColorDirect has been serving the Minneapolis-area as a digital printer for over 15 years. Always striving to be on the leading edge of technology, owners Dave and Judy Simpson understand that an investment in technology can actually save money by improving efficiencies.

In 1992, with 20 years experience in a family typesetting business already behind him, Dave Simpson started ColorDirect doing large-format electrostatic printing. As Hewlett-Packard (HP) inkjet printers came on the market in 1994, we became early adopters by using their products extensively. We continued to evolve how we print, and so in 2005, we became the second company in the U.S. to install a Gandinnovations 3150 UV flatbed printer. And you can trust us to always seek further innovation-- we just installed a new Kongsberg XL44 CNC cutter.
